Mamma says if you are in the city and want a break from the hustle and bustle pop in to The State Library Or make it your destination as there is plenty to see and do here for the kids and heaps of books AND it is FREE!
There is so much to see and do. There are craft stations, sensory toys, building blocks, costumes to dress up in, reading nooks, study spaces, a kitchen area, pram parking, access bathroom and family room and, of course, beautifully fresh BOOKS!!
If you are looking for an adventure that combines fun, learning and history then freeze - Mamma has you sorted at the Old Melbourne Gaol.
Melbourne Zoo is a fantastic place when you want to see LOADS of animals, as well as learn about wildlife conservation and Zoos Victoria’s fight against extinction.
Tram 35 is the City Circle - the Tourist Tram. You can sit on this one and travel all around town on this old W-Class tram, and it even has some audio commentary to match. Riding this tram is FREE and the experience of sitting on these old rattlers is a real highlight for the kids.

This is a great pool, Mamma used to spend hours doing laps here pre-kids and now for the family - it is an excellent option! If you have never been here you must give it a go this summer!

A hidden laneway retreat, set amongst some of Mamma’s favourites.
There is artwork dotted about the place too and then all fab places to eat, drink and enjoy just make this laneway all that little more of a destination.

Hosier Lane is one of the most famous laneway in Melbourne. It has little offshoots and side alleys that are also good to explore for art and the likes.
