grand hyatt melbourne, collins street
/Location, location, location! The Grand Hyatt Melbourne is an excellent choice for a family friendly staycation with a sprinkle of luxury on top! The huge room, chic amenities and lovely staff made Mamma’s stay so care free. It is easy to navigate with kids in tow and provides everything needed for a weekend retreat.
The location is perfect for city adventures, with Fed Square, Southbank Promenade, Bourke Street Mall, NGV and so much more within walking distance, as well as a tram stop right there on Collins Street. But even with all that on your doorstep you are going to want to make a few trips to the hotel pool and spa, where the kiddos had the best fun. And if you stay on a Friday, consider eating in, with Living Grand Friday Buffet a real hit with kids and adults alike for dinner.
Mamma and co stayed in a deluxe room with a king size bed and a convertible couch turned into a double bed for the kids, that was already set up when we arrived so all we had to do was unpack and take in the amazing view of iconic Melbourne sights before heading out to explore. This is perfect for a family of four or less.
These rooms have the option of interconnecting rooms through a main door, perfect if you’re needing more space for friends or family. Most stays come with complimentary basketball on the rooftop, and the rooftop tennis courts can be hired for $30/hr.
The buffet breakfast at Collins Kitchen inside the Grand Hyatt is next level and a must try if staying here! Mamma can’t even begin writing a list of what to expect here as she is not sure when it would stop. The lovely chefs will pour the batter at your request and once they are plated up, there are toppings galore that you can add yourself, syrup, chocolate sauce, berries, cream, lollies, sprinkles, all the good stuff.
Every possible breakfast option is here, plus more! Whether you’re after a full English fry up, Asian breakfast of dumplings and congee, continental breakfast with pastries and cakes, or just toast, yoghurt and cereal, they have it all and then some. The pancake and waffle station must be mentioned though, as Mamma’s little ones made more than one trip here. A standout for Mamma was the blueberry panna cotta - delish! You can also enjoy the smoothie bar with healthy smoothies made to order, as well as sweets, fresh fruit, tea and coffee.
You are spoilt for choice at the buffet, and spoilt everywhere else in this 5-star hotel in the centre of the city! It’s a real treat for the fam to have a staycation at Grand Hyatt Melbourne!
