australian sports museum @ mcg, east melbourne
/The MCG the heart Melbourne a second home to so many Melburnians. It could be that you spent every weekend here cheering your favourite footy team, or you watched the Commonwealth Games here back in 2006 OR caught your very first concert. Well, these might just be Mamma's memories, but regardless, the 'G is a huge part of Melbourne culture.
The Australian Sports Museum is located right in the underbelly of this magnificent stadium and it has gone through a massive transformation! It showcases all that is wonderful about the Aussie sporting tradition and has so many relics and memorabilia on display. If you want to teach the kids some history about cricket, football, netball or the Olympics, this is the best place to do it.
Everyone who enters the museum gets a fancy green and gold sweatband, allowing you to interact with all the exhibits. The spot, however, where the kids will wanna hang out, is the fully interactive and hands on section - Game On. Here you can test your skills in all sorts of sports: your handball skills, shoot a goal in netball or soccer, climb a giant footy, surf the waves or simply test your reflexes! This zone suits your primary aged kids and ones with a competitive streak.
Mamma's special mention: Make the journey to the G even more memorable and add on a tour of this icon.
