flinders waffles, degraves st
/Down the Flinders end of bustling Degraves street is the sweetest little waffle shop in town. Serving Melbournes first Taiyaki soft serve and viral Flinders St Station waffles, Flinders Waffles is the perfect pit stop for a sugar fix next time you’re in the city!
What is Taiyaki?! Mamma hears you ask - well, it is a traditional sweet Japanese fish shaped cake, stuffed with any number of fillings. Cooked on a griddle mould that gives it a big gaping mouth, Flinders Waffles fill their Taiyaki fish with a choice of custard, Nutella or red bean and top it off with an ever changing menu of soft serve flavours.
From yuzu and matcha, to strawberry and vanilla, Mamma loved the variety and different combinations available. Don’t forget to top yours off with some rainbow sprinkles, Biscoff crumbs or mini mochi. YUM!
Their other specialty, a deliciously chewy waffle in the shape of Melbourne’s iconic Flinders St Station, was a favourite! Fresh off the griddle and filled with warm, gooey Nutella, Mamma could have easily eaten more than one.
If you’re thirsty, why not try one of their many flavoured hot or cold Matcha drinks which are just as pretty as their waffles and come topped with soft serve as well!
