distraction @ science gallery, parkville
/You can always expect a fun, interactive exhibition at the Science Gallery and right now is Distraction - and it’s all about our connection to the digital world. Explore, play and contemplate as you work your way through different exhibits.
Almost every exhibit is interactive, which is great for kids and big kids alike! Deviation Game was a highlight - AI vs the humans, Pictionary style! Or, meet the creators of games down in the student arcade where you can play their demos (available to purchase to play on PC or XBox)!
Mamma loved the arcade past the cafe. Rotate through turns of very playful and funny arcade games. Dodge the swooping magpies while riding your bike, or eat as many hot dogs as you can!
Mamma’s hot tip is that the coffees here are awesome, and only $3! Definitely don’t pass this up on your way past the cafeteria.
There’s plenty more to visit beyond these spaces - try your hand at crochet, flip the switches inside the rubix cube, write a note to an imaginary friend, or join others in making a pledge to commit to some screen free time. There is heaps to do here!
The exhibition space here extends over multiple levels with wheelchair and pram access via ramps and elevators. There are free lockers serving as a cloak room, bathrooms and baby change tables. And if you want to eat here, there’s a cafe or you are welcome to bring your own food in.
Mamma recommends allowing about an hour to enjoy everything here, but you could stay for longer, there is so much to get into!
